AAP - WHAT TO EXPECT

This workshop will largely consist of process-oriented work much like one would experience in the here-and-now, I-Thou, real-time moments of individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Individuals take personal risks by self-reflecting and sharing feelings as they relate to self and others.

Whether attendees are new, recently acquainted, or long-time AAP members, the possibility for personal encounter, growth, and maturation is abundant. We encourage you to set an intention to be your truest self and show up with courage and vulnerability.

MAAAP - OUR INVITATION TO YOU

We hope you will bring your best, adventurous and imperfect selves, along with your fears, courage, and desires. Plan to participate fully and expand your horizons on your journey to becoming a more effective psychotherapist. We are confident that you will be deeply affected by what transpires. This workshop can have profound meaning for your sense of self, connection to friends and colleagues, and for your ability to feel invigorated in your work.

AAP - WHAT YOU WILL BE OFFERED

  1. Community Meeting

  2. A 3-Hour Virtual Process Group led by various Academy members (held on Zoom & limited to 15 participants)

Date: Saturday 2/26/2022

Time: 1:00pm-6:00pm EST

You will earn 3 Continuing Education Credits for this workshop.

Course Content Level: Intermediate

AGENDA

1:00-2:30pm EST: Community Meeting

We will begin the workshop with our traditional community meeting. This large group experience will be a 1.5 hour leaderless space where people are free to share their experiences, speak what is on their mind and in their heart, and contribute to a ‘container’ that offers greater connection with the organization. Many liken the experience to a Quaker meeting for worship.

2:30-2:45pm EST: 15-Minute Break

2:45-6:00pm EST: Process Groups (including 15-minute break)
4:30-4:45pm EST 15-minute break

During these process groups, participants are encouraged to relate with direct sharing of experience, feelings, and attunement to self and other. Individuals are invited to take personal risks via self-reflection as a way of exploring the development of the therapeutic relationship. By acknowledging their countertransference, the role of the unconscious, and owning the subjective nature of therapeutic interpretations, the participants will achieve a greater sense of self and their relationship to others.

In order to receive your continuing education units, you must stay for the entire workshop.

Certificates will be available following course completion at www.ceuregistration.com. You will receive an email the week after the workshop with directions on how to download your certificate.
